Guest Testimony: Before I Became A Christian … And Now

2 Apr

The following guest post was sent to us from Katie Harrington. Thanks for sharing, Katie!

Before I became a Christian, it was just my family and me
Before I became a Christian, I knew right and wrong but not the consequences of wrong
Before I became a Christian, I knew integrity but didn’t know how important it was
Before I became a Christian, I controlled my destiny
Before I became a Christian, I gossiped
Before I became a Christian, it was all about what I had
Before I became a Christian, prayer was what my grandparents did
Before I became a Christian, money was everything

In 1996, everything changed …

It’s hard to describe but now I know it’s not all about me or all about the money I make.

It’s about loving God beyond all measure and trusting him with all of my heart. I pray all the time and believe that things happen for a reason beyond my control. My destiny is not all my own but God’s as well.

I stand by people when they can’t walk and integrity is what people have when they stick by their word. It’s not about what I have (I still have my same car from high school). It’s about relationships with people and about building others up without tearing them down.

I know what happens when I do something wrong and trust me, it’s not that great.

People cared for me enough to change my heart and change the way I think. It was through examples of peers and adults that showed me what it truly meant to follow Christ.

Sure, things are hard and they will always be, but I know following God is the best thing that has happened to me. When you see me, I am surly walking the walk and talking the talk.
